Accessibility statement
This website and the customer portal at vertexlake.com are built to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA, and we test them that way.
How we build
- Every page reads without scripts; the pages that need them work with a keyboard alone.
- Text can be resized to 200% and the layout reflows without horizontal scrolling at a viewport of 320 CSS pixels.
- Colours meet the contrast minimums in both the light and the dark appearance; nothing is conveyed by colour alone.
- Typefaces were chosen for legibility: Atkinson Hyperlegible for the interface and reading, Bricolage Grotesque for headings, Literata for the legal pages.
- Motion respects your device's reduced-motion setting, and the Motion control in every page's footer turns it off here regardless, for as long as you keep it so.
- The home page's rotating audience panel is the hero: one kind of keeper at a time over a photograph of that keeper at work, which drifts very slightly and changes with the name. It stops for good when you press it or move keyboard focus into it, and then shows a control to start it again; resting the pointer on it pauses it; the photographs are decorative and carry no words; every name and line it shows is also plain text under "Who it is for" further down the page, and nothing it shows is announced automatically.
- The diagram on the home page is decorative and described in one sentence beside it; it holds still under reduced motion.
- An automated check (axe-core, WCAG 2.2 AA) runs on every page in our browser suite on every change.
Known limitations
- Stripe's hosted checkout and billing pages are Stripe's; their accessibility is theirs to state.
- The site has not yet had an independent audit; we intend to commission one.
